Joint purchase groups were initiated in 1972 by joining the dairy farming concept of "Milk produced in Hokkaido for the consumer in Honshu" and the need from the consumer to "Provide them with delicious and safe milk to the children". Over the last 40 years, the joint purchase initiative has spread throughout the country to areas such as Tokyo, Chukyo and into the Kansai region. Our relationships continue to be strengthened by listening to customer feedback, visiting our customers and farmers, and by this joint product development.

Activities to Protect the Local Water Environment

At our factories, including the Tokachi Main Factory, organic matter and suspended substances contained in effluent are removed through biological treatment, and clean water is released into a river.
We will carry on our wastewater purification efforts to ensure that animals and plants in waterside areas continue to thrive.

Yotsuba's Mission

Tree Planting Programs to Connect with the Future

We are working with a wide range of environmental conservation activities together with the local people in each region where our factories are stationed, namely Tokachi, Konsen, Okhotsk Kitami, and Soya. In addition, we have introduced the latest environmentally friendly systems into the equipment of each plant.

Working with local elementary school students in the Tomakomai "Yotsuba Forest", we planted a total of 300 trees which included breeds such as Ezo-Yamazakura and Japanese oak. We will continue to endeavor in future activities in protecting nature, and understanding the importance of living with together with it.

Waste Reduction and Recycling Programs

At Yotsuba, we aim to reduce waste and achieve a recycling rate of over 97%. Over 70% of the waste water sludge contained in the waste that comes from the Tokachi main factory, the Okhotsk Kitami factory, and the Soya factory is recycled by converting it to fertilizer. In addition to this, 100% of the milk carton waste produced in manufacture is recycled, and we also work with programs in the recycling of used milk cartons that are disposed of from the home.
