It seems that there are many types of milk. How are they categorized?
Milk is categorized by classification.

Use only raw milk (milk that freshly milking from dairy cow.)

 

Classification: Milk
Raw milk is pasteurised and packaged, where the milk composition remains unmodified.
(The addition of water, etc., is strictly forbidden by law.)

 

Components adjusted milk
Composition adjusted by removing some milk fat from raw milk.

 

Classification: Low Fat Milk
Milk fat had been removed from raw milk to reduce fat.
(Milk fat content not less than 0.5% and not more than 1.5%)

 

Classification: Skimmed Milk
Milk fat had been removed from raw milk to make it fat-free.
(Milk fat content less than 0.5%)

Products using only raw milk, milk, and milk products.

 

Classification: Processed Milk
Product processed from raw milk, pasteurised milk or from milk products which the raw ingredient is milk (skimmed milk powder, cream, butter).

Products using raw milk, milk, or milk products, together with other non-dairy ingredients.

 

Classification: Milk Beverage
Raw milk and milk products as primary ingredient where nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and calcium, coffee and fruit juice added.
